InvivoGen therapeutics 'IgA therapy project' focuses on the development of recombinant monoclonal IgA antibodies for therapeutic use. Rheumatoid arthritis is one of the diseases chosen to demonstrate the therapeutic potential of this new class of monoclonal antibodies. This chronic inflammatory disease of the joints is associated with an overexpression of pro-inflammatory cytokines such as TNF-alpha. Several anti-TNF-alpha monoclonal antibodies have been recently approved for the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis. InvivoGen Therapeutics is developing several recombinant IgA antibodies specific for TNF-alpha. Their therapeutic activity will be investigated in a murin model of rheumatoid arthritis.
